The department of chemical engineering was established in 2019 and is establishing itself as a hub for energy, recycling, bioprocessing and materials research. 

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work in the group of Dr Abhishek Lahiri in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Brunel University London. The appointee will develop and test metal oxide catalysts for water splitting, optimise the alkaline water electrolyser and study the long-term stability of the catalyst.

The postholder must have good understanding of electrochemistry and should have relevant experience in electrolyser testing. The appointee will be part of a collaborative team and will be required to present results and contribute significantly to discussions.

The successful candidate will have research experience in chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related subject. Expertise in electrolysers and metal oxides synthesis are essential. They should have an appropriate industrial experience or publication track record, a demonstrated commitment to excellence, and exceptional skills in hydrogen technology. They will be expected to work closely with existing group members and collaborative team, provide supervision and support to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and have effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
