Research Assistant – Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at University of Rostock

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, Chair of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, subject to allocation of funds, we are filling the following position within the DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG) GRK 2943Ā “Spectroscopic Tools for Challenging Reduction Reactions: Catalytic Coupling of C02 (SPECTRE)”Ā at the earliest possible date limited until 31.03.2029.

Tasks:

  • research in the field of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry with the aim of scientific qualification (habilitation)
  • development and application of time-resolved infrared spectroscopy for investigation of molecular and catalytic systems
  • development of experimental strategies, realisation of experiments an analysis of datapublication of research and development
  • scientific teaching within the frame of the project in the field of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry
  • concept, prepare, examine and correct scientific academic performances
  • support scientific organizational tasks (study organization, committee work)
  • organize and carry out scientific events

Required:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master’s degree or comparable degree) and PhD in Chemistry or Experimental Physics with at least good results
  • several years of relevant professional experience with regard to spectroscopy of molecular systems is required
  • experience in the field of time-resolved spectroscopy is desirable
  • teaching experience is desirable
  • confident knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one’s own scientific qualification
  • good excellent ability to work on schedule
  • communication skills for presenting research results
  • ability to work in a team for interdisciplinary work groups
