Assistant or Associate Professor position in Chemistry Education at University of Iowa

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa solicits applications to fill a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Chemistry Education, with an anticipated start date in August 2025. Prospective candidates in all subdisciplines of chemical education are encouraged to apply.  Research areas should address important chemistry-based pedagogical innovations and/or problems in student learning or assessment.  Although the position’s research focus is on education/pedagogy, the faculty member will be expected to provide the standard level of research, teaching, and service expected of all tenure-track faculty members.

The University of Iowa is a Big Ten institution with an enrollment of approximately 31,500 students. The Department currently consists of 24 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 5 instructional track faculty and approximately 120 graduate students. We offer excellent facilities, including an abundant array of shared instrumentation, and several well-equipped Central Research Facilities. Education Requirement:
A PhD in chemistry, chemistry education, or closely related field  in hand by the start date.
Required Qualifications:
Postdoctoral experience or equivalent in an academic, government, national laboratory, or industry setting.
Potential for developing and leading a nationally prominent, externally funded research program in chemistry education as demonstrated by a promising record of scholarship and research productivity.
Potential to be an effective and engaging educator for undergraduate and graduate students of chemistry.
A commitment to successfully mentoring graduate students.

Experience in fostering a welcoming and respectful academic environment for students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
