22nd International conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (ICBIC22)

You are warmly invited to join us in York, UK, in July 2027 for the 22nd International conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (ICBIC22). On behalf of the Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry (SBIC) we are delighted to be organising ICBIC22 together with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and members of the organising committees. We are at the early stages of planning and more information will appear on this webpage as the programme develops. In the meantime, save the dates! 25-30 July 2027.

Speakers:

Serena DeBeer, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Germany
Serena DeBeer is a Professor and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University, an honorary faculty member at both Ruhr University in Bochum and University of Duisburg Essen, and the group leader of the PINK Beamline at the Energy Materials In‐Situ Laboratory at Helmholtz Zentrum in Berlin. She received her B.S. in Chemistry at Southwestern University in 1995 and her Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2002. From 2002-2009, she was a staff scientist at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, before moving to her faculty position at Cornell. Research in the DeBeer group is focused on the development and application of advanced X-ray spectroscopic tools for understanding key mechanisms in biological and chemical catalysis.

Mi Hee Lim, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea
Dr. Mi Hee Lim is a KAIST Endowed Chair Professor and the Director of the Center for MetalloNeuroProteinoChemistry in the Department of Chemistry at KAIST. Her research interests lie in bioinorganic chemistry, focusing on identifying how metal-centered molecular networks are linked to neurodegenerative disorders and establishing new directions for developing chemical reagents as tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics for such diseases. Dr. Lim is a Fellow of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Council Member of the SBIC, and a Steering Committee Member for the AsBIC. She also received several awards, including the L'Oréal Korea-UNESCO for Women in Science Award, the AsBIC James Hoeschele Award, and the SBIC Early Career Award.
