Call for expression of interest: The UK Catalysis Hub – Early Career Researcher Committee

The UK Catalysis Hub invites expressions of interest from highly motivated and collaborative early career researchers to join its ECR Forum.

The UK Catalysis Hub delivers a world-leading, comprehensive and coordinated programme of catalytic science in the UK, driving innovation and supporting the UK’s transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy.  Embedding and supporting ECRs within the UK catalysis community is a central priority for the Hub.

We welcome applications from ECRs across the UK working in catalysis or related areas, including chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, physics, and data science. Applicants from both fundamental and applied/industrial research backgrounds are all encouraged to apply. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Attend quarterly (online) ECR Committee meetings

  • Serve a term of 3 years

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Hub III events and activities

  • Provide constructive input into shaping ECR-focused initiatives and priorities

Person Specifications

Applicants should be:

  • Early career researcher (typically defined within 10 years of PhD completion, although the Hub is happy to consider applicants from those with a non-traditional career path)

  • Active in catalysis or closely related fields across academia, industry, national labs, or other related sectors

  • Bring a positive, constructive, and inclusive approach to discussions
