The Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on Electrocatalysis.
Job description
Our research group explores how complex electrolyte environments influence the reaction kinetics and product selectivity of the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) and related electrocatalytic processes. We place a strong emphasis on mechanistic insights and employ advanced, in‑situ characterization techniques—such as FTIR spectroscopy, differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS), and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM)—to study reaction pathways. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to drive these efforts forward.
You will join a collaborative, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating environment that prizes scientific creativity and curiosity. This is a full-time position, tentatively starting on July 1, 2025, or later. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. For more information about our group, please visit our website.
Profile
We welcome candidates who have hands‑on experience in electrochemical CO2 reduction or closely related electrocatalytic reactions. Ideal applicants will also bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- In situ characterization (e.g. FTIR, Raman, SECM)
- Online product analysis (e.g., HPLC, GC, DEMS)
- Single crystals
- Automation
We are looking for highly motivated researchers with a passion for contributing to solutions in the global energy landscape. If you excel in collaborative environments and can bring expertise in any of the areas above, we strongly encourage you to apply.
Qualifications
- PhD in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Self-driven, highly motivated, with strong teamwork skills
