The UK Catalysis Hub III will support scientists and engineers in universities and national facilities across the UK, who will work together to solve urgent challenges in manufacturing, recycling and pollution reduction. It will convene experts from across the branches of catalysis, with projects that connect research in chemistry, advanced experimentation, engineering, computational modelling and digital tools. It will also support the training and career development of early career researchers, postdoctoral scientists and postgraduate students working in catalysis in universities across the UK.
Hub III activities are designed to connect the UK researcher community with other expert consortia working in catalysis across the world.
Phase III research themes
The Hub’s core programme will support three key priority areas for catalysis research in future: net zero, taking advantage of evolving digital technologies, and sustainable manufacturing.
The four interrelated Hub III themes of the hub are:
- Net Zero
- Sustainability
- Digital Chemistry
- Advanced Characterization
The Hub aims to leverage the funding provided to support development in all areas of catalysis research. It will create a range of projects around the UK in the key priority areas with academics, students and industry. The projects may involve PDRA funding for twelve-month projects, proof of concept funding, and secondments.
In addition, it plans to grow the international community, continuing collaborations and opportunities for training, meetings, and events.
These efforts aid fundamental understanding of catalysis, creating a pipeline of knowledge and long-term solutions which benefit industry, protect our environment and are essential to achieving Net Zero with economically viable methods.
