From revolutionising the rail infrastructure and improving the lives of people affected by dementia, to gaining a deeper understanding of culture and creativity, research at the University of Southampton addresses some of the most challenging issues facing society today.
Now, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the award of the University’s Royal Charter and as we launch our new Strategy, we are looking for exceptional early-career researchers to join our flagship Anniversary Fellowship scheme.
Open to researchers from around the world and from diverse backgrounds, the scheme supports those who have the potential and ambition to become leaders in their field, and who want to achieve the remarkable and build an inclusive world.
Bringing your own unique vision of how to make a difference to society, you’ll help to shape the future of research, both at the University and in your own field. Over three years of protected research time, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle adventurous and novel research challenges. Mentoring, peer support, training and networking opportunities will be available throughout, and we will help you to access external research funding. We will encourage you to work across disciplines and connect with external partners.
Our Anniversary Fellows will support and inspire each other, driving forward innovation on an international platform. You will hold a PhD and will already be demonstrating potential for research excellence in your postdoctoral activity. Highly organised and driven, you will demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills, and will also have exemplary powers of communication, alongside a collaborative approach.
