BBNet is delighted to announce that expressions of interest are now being accepted for a collaboration workshop aimed at early career researchers, focusing on building stronger applications and relationships.
This two day in-person workshop will be facilitated by Jo North of The Big Bang Partnership and will be held at The Hilton Hotel in the historic city of York.
This workshop is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to succeed in developing impactful research funding proposals in the area of industrial biotechnology. It aims to;
- provide a comprehensive understanding of current sector opportunities, policies, and funding landscapes
- foster interdisciplinary collaborations and develop skills to build strong industry-academic relationships
- bridge the gap between emerging sector opportunities and practical application development
- provide the opportunity to develop and tailor a personal action plan to guide their next steps
Participants will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of funding, policy, and commercialisation, ultimately leading to more successful project outcomes.
The workshop will cover the following aspects:
- Current policy landscape and priorities
- Sector opportunities
- Writing successful research proposals
- Interdisciplinary collaborations
- Commercialisation of research
- Networking and mentoring opportunities
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is open to UK-based academic members of the BBNet community in the early stages of their career, with specific interest and evidence of work within the biomass biorefining sector and a desire to further their career in the field.
For the purposes of this workshop, early career researchers are defined as:
- Final year post doctoral students
- Immediately post doctorate
- Transitioning to independent researcher
Whilst our primary audience is those that self-define in one of the above categories we would also like to support other post doctoral researchers, including those currently working in industry, who are looking to progress their career towards independent research and would benefit from this opportunity. In the EOI, please tell us about your current research, career ambitions and how the workshop will benefit you.
Expressions of interest are being taken until midnight on Sunday 24 November 2024. All applications will be assessed and places will be allocated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance of current research to the biomass biorefining sector
- Potential impact the workshop will have on future research and career development
- Additional eligibility criteria (see application guidance for further details)
