2 x PhD positions in plasma catalysis for sustainable production of fuels and chemicals at University of Liverpool

We are seeking to recruit 2 enthusiastic, highly motivated PhD students to work on emerging plasma catalysis for the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals through the activation of small and inert molecules (e.g., CO2 conversion, NH3 synthesis/cracking) under ambient conditions. You will join the team led by Professor Xin Tu in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool (UK). You should have a Master degree (or near completion) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material, or closely-related subject. Research experience and excellent knowledge in heterogeneous catalysis, electrocatalysis, plasma chemistry or plasma catalysis for the synthesis of fuels and chemicals are highly desirable. To successfully complete the deliverables of the project, you will work closely with team members as well as external collaborators. You should therefore be enthusiastic about the discipline, committed, and motivated with an aptitude for independent working as well as working as part of a diverse, interdisciplinary team.

If you obtain your degree from a non-English-speaking country, you must also meet the entry English language requirement (e.g., IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 for each component). The earliest start date is March 2024.
