Royal Society Industry Fellowship and Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence schemes are currently open for applications

The Royal Society Industry Fellowship and Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence schemes are currently open for applications.

The Industry Fellowship is a great opportunity for scientist to work on a collaborative project with an academic organisation and an industry partner. The secondment can be held for up to 4 years part time. The scheme provides the applicant’s basic salary and up to £8000 research expenses. Details of how to apply can be found in the Industry Fellowship scheme notes.  For a more dynamic engagement between academia and industry, please refer to our Short Industry Fellowships, which opens on 3 September 2019. We encourage applications involving small companies and/or early stage companies provided they have a well-established research team and facilities.

The Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence scheme provides opportunities for enthusiastic, highly experienced industrial scientists and entrepreneurs to spend one day a week over two years at a university developing a bespoke project to:

  • expose university staff and students to state-of-the-art industrial research and development, and the scientific challenges faced by industry
  • provide support and expert advice aimed at promoting innovation and the translation of research by universities
  • grow confidence in and understanding of business and entrepreneurship among staff and students
  • provide career recognition to the award holders, and support their professional development

The scheme provides a contribution to the basic salary for the EiR and towards travel and project costs.
